Day 1. Mekelle – Danakil Depression (Erta Ale) <\/strong><\/p>

– Tour departs from MFT (Magma Flow Tours) office at 10am, brief about your tour and drive to the Southern part of the Danakil Depression (Erta Ale area) in route, meet local people in Kesrawad (a village in a middle of unexpected remote area).<\/p>

– TREK (30-40min) to the top of the Erta Ale Mountain.<\/p>

– Visit Erta Ale Volcano (Lava Lake) during the night.<\/p>

Meal plan: Lunch, Snack & Dinner <\/strong><\/p>

Overnight: Outside\/inside local huts made up of lava rocks near to the rim.<\/strong><\/p>

Day 2. Danakil Depression (Erta Ale – Afdera – Lake Asale\/Karum – HamadEla)<\/strong><\/p>

– 2nd visit of the Erta Ale Volcano during the sunrise (if interested).<\/p>

– Trek (30-40min) back, meet cars and drive to Afdera.<\/p>

– Swim in Lake Afrera & take a bath in hydrothermal springs.<\/p>

– Drive to the Northern part of the Danakil Depression (Dallol area).<\/p>

– Visit:<\/p>

  • Camel caravans heading back from the salt mining area to HamadEla & highlands (if available)<\/li>
  • Sunset on Lake Asale\/Karum.<\/li><\/ul>

    Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack & Dinner <\/strong><\/p>

    Overnight: Outside under the stars in HamadEla\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

    Day 3. Danakil Depression (Dallol) – <\/strong>Wukro<\/p>

    – In the morning, visit:<\/p>

    • Dallol Volcano<\/li>
    • Salt Mountains (Canyons)<\/li>
    • Sulfur Lake<\/li>
    • Camel Caravans & Local Salt Mining (if available)<\/li><\/ul>

      – Afterwards, drive to Wukro.<\/p>

      Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner<\/strong><\/p>

      Overnight: Wukro lodge (3*) Wukro <\/strong><\/p>

      Day 4. Wukro – Abraha we Atsbeha – Gheralta (Dugum)<\/strong><\/p>

      – Morning, relax in your lodge.<\/p>

      – Afternoon, drive to Gheralta. In route, visit Abraha we Atsbeha rock-hewn church.<\/p>

      – Car drops us at Dugum village and start trekking to visit Abune Abreham\/Debre Tsion rock-hewn church.<\/p>

      Total trekking time: 3h<\/p>

      Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner<\/strong><\/p>

      Overnight: Camping at Dugum village<\/strong><\/p>

      Day 5. Gheralta (Dugum – Korkor)<\/strong><\/p>

      – Morning, trek and visit Maryam Papaseit.<\/p>

      – After visit, continue trekking to Korkor.<\/p>

      Total trekking time: 5-6h<\/p>

      Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner<\/strong><\/p>

      Overnight: Camping at Korkor village<\/strong><\/p>

      Day 6. Gheralta (Korkor – Guh)<\/strong><\/p>

      – Morning, ascend to Mount Korkor and visit Maryam & Daniel Korkor rock-hewn churches.<\/p>

      – After visit, descend from Mount Korkor and continue trekking to Guh village.<\/p>

      Total trekking time: 5-6h<\/p>

      Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner<\/strong><\/p>

      Overnight: Camping at Guh village<\/strong><\/p>

      Day 7. Gheralta (Guh) – Hawzen<\/strong><\/p>

      – Morning, ascend to Mount Guh and visit Abune Yemata Guh rock-hewn church.<\/p>

      – After visit, descend back to Guh village.<\/p>

      – Afternoon, drive to a place where we can see an amazing views of the chained Mountains of Gheralta during the sunset.<\/p>

      – Afterwards, drive to Hawzen.<\/p>

      Total trekking time: 2-2.5h<\/p>
