Terms & Conditions

1. Booking & Agreement

By submitting a booking request and paying a deposit for any tour operated by Magma Flow Tours Ethiopia (“Company”, “we”, “our”), the lead traveler (“Client”, “you”) agrees to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all participants included in the reservation. A binding contract exists once we issue a written booking confirmation via email.

2. Payments & Pricing

• Deposit: A non-refundable 10% deposit of the total tour price is required at the time of booking to secure reservations, permits, and transport.

• Final Payment: The remaining 90% balance is due prior to departure or upon arrival in Ethiopia in cash in USD or EUR.

• Price Changes: Prices are quoted based on current local tax structures, entrance fees, and fuel costs. We reserve the right to adjust tour prices prior to full payment if significant government fee or tax increases occur.

3. Cancellations & Refunds by the Client

Cancellations must be submitted in writing via email. Because your initial deposit secures non-refundable permits, regional logistics, and transport reservations, the following cancellation terms apply:

• Deposit Non-Refundability: The 10% booking deposit is strictly non-refundable under all circumstances.

• More than 15 Days Before Departure: If you have paid beyond the 10% deposit and cancel more than 15 days before the tour start date, any extra amount paid will be refunded (minus banking or transfer fees).

• 15 Days or Less Before Departure / No-Show: Cancellations made within 15 days of departure, or failure to arrive for the tour, are non-refundable, and the full tour balance remains due.

• Transferring Your Booking: If you cannot travel, you may transfer your booking to another person up to 7 days before departure at no extra charge, provided they accept these terms and meet all health and visa requirements.

4. Itinerary Alterations & Force Majeure

Due to the nature of adventure travel in remote locations (e.g., Danakil Depression, Erta Ale, Simien Mountains), local weather, road conditions, flight schedules, or local authority directives may require itinerary adjustments.

• Company Adjustments: We reserve the right to alter routes, timing, or accommodations in the interest of safety and comfort without prior notice.

• Force Majeure: Magma Flow Tours Ethiopia is not liable for delays, cancellations, or additional costs resulting from acts of God, extreme weather, volcanic activity, political instability, border closures, or domestic flight cancellations by third-party carriers (e.g., Ethiopian Airlines).

5. Travel Insurance & Health Requirements

• Comprehensive Insurance: It is a mandatory condition of booking that all clients hold personal travel, health, and medical evacuation insurance.

• Physical Fitness: Clients are responsible for ensuring they possess the physical health and mobility necessary to undertake heat-intensive activities and mountain treks (such as the Erta Ale volcano ascent).

6. Luggage & Personal Belongings

Main luggage and suitcases may be safely stored inside our tour vehicles during treks, site visits, and excursions. Our drivers will lock and monitor vehicles whenever possible; however, clients remain solely responsible for their personal belongings. Magma Flow Tours Ethiopia assumes no liability for loss, damage, or theft of unattended items. We strongly advise carrying all essential items—such as passports, cash, prescription medications, and valuable electronics—with you in your daypack at all times.

7. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any legal disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Ethiopian courts.
