Duration: 8 days/7 nights

Day 1. Arrival in Addis
You will be welcomed by your guide/a member of Magma Flow Team at Bole International airport Addis and transfer to your hotel. If arrival time is in the morning, after check-in your hotel and quick refreshment, you will have Addis city tour.

Day 2. Addis – Mekelle – Danakil Depression
– Fly from Addis to Mekelle.
– Pick up from Mekelle airport and drive to the Northern part of the Danakil Depression (Dallol area).
– Visit:
- Camel caravans heading back from the salt mining area to HamadEla & highlands (if available)
- Sunset on Lake Asale/Karum.
Overnight outside under the stars in HamadEla
Day 3. Danakil Depression (HamadEla – Dallol – Abala)
– In the morning, visit:
- Dallol Volcano
- Salt Mountains (Canyons)
- Sulfur Lake (Yellow Ponds)
- Camel Caravans & Local Salt Mining (if available)
– Afterwards, drive to Abala.
Overnight in a local guest house in Abala town
Day 4. Danakil Depression (Abala – Erta Ale)
– Drive to the Southern part of the Danakil Depression (Erta Ale area) in route, meet local people in Kesrawad (a village in a middle of unexpected remote area).
– TREK (30-40min) to the top of the Erta Ale Mountain.
– Visit Erta Ale Volcano (Lava Lake) during the night.
Overnight outside/inside local huts made up of lava rocks near to the rim.
Day 5. Danakil Depression (Erta Ale – Afdera) – Semera
– 2nd visit of the Erta Ale Volcano during the sunrise (if interested).
– Trek (30-40min) back, meet cars and drive to Afdera.
– Swim in Lake Afrera & take a bath in hydrothermal springs (if interested).
– Proceed driving to Semera

Day 6. Semera – Awash
– Drive to Awash.
– Check-in hotel/lodge and relax.
– Afternoon, start gamedrive through park to see different wildlife species (Oryx, Kudus, Dik-Dik, Baboons…) in route, taking several stops on best spots where we can see and admire the spectacular views of the rift valley & waterfall (if not dried) from.
Overnight hotel/lodge in Awash
Day 7. Awash – Harar
– Drive to Harar.
– Visit:
- The House of Rimbaud
- Ras Tafari’s House
- Ras Mekonnen’s Palace
- The Harari National Cultural Center
- The tomb of Emir Nur, who built the famous Jugol (The City Wall)
- A man feeding Hyenas.
Overnight hotel in Harar
Day 8. Harar – Dire Dawa – Addis
– In the morning, visit:
- Colorful Muslim & Christian markets
- If any unvisited sites from Yesterday
– Drive to Dire Dawa in route, visit:
- The old Train station
- Aweday Khat market
– Transfer to Dire Dawa airport to catch your flight back to Addis.
If it is possible for you to add one more day and/or it is fine to do a little bit fast visit, we can put visit of Babile in the itinerary.
